Ignite presentations are 5-minute talks given over 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds. The topic is up to you, but the goal remains: enlighten us, but make it quick.

Below, there are Ignite talk templates in three forms: Google Slides, Keynote, and PowerPoint. Feel free to use any of those as a place to start, or build you own. While making your presentation, keep in mind a couple of best practices:
  • Watch some Ignite talks! It's a great way to get some ideas about creating effective slides. I love this one about beating any opponent at Scrabble. Here is also one of our own, from NEIT17.
  • Tell a story rather than give a lecture.
  • Keep it simple. In terms of slide content, less is more: images often work better than text, but if you must use text, keep it minimal!
  • Practice. Rehearse your talk along with your slide progression a couple of times.
  • If possible, try not to read your whole presentation.
  • Have fun!
